IAC Celebrates 25 Years of Excellence

A Journey of Innovation and Growth

IAC, Arizona’s leading instrumentation and controls solutions provider, is thrilled to announce its momentous 25th anniversary. With great pride and gratitude Instrumentation and Controls reflects on the remarkable journey that began in 1999. Founded by father and son, Larry and Ritch Shank, IAC has flourished over the past 25 years, establishing itself as a trusted and innovative process partner. The journey started with a humble yet determined vision and today, IAC stands as a symbol of success and dedication.

“When Ritch and I started, I envisioned representing high-quality manufacturers of Instrumentation, Controls and Valves and building a team of employees to support our customers as I look at the company today I feel we have met this vision.” – Larry Shank, Founding Partner

In 1999, when Larry and Ritch started IAC, they fearlessly took on the roles of salespeople, administrators, and accountants, all within the confinements of a cramped 1,000-square-foot office in Tempe, Arizona. Undeterred by the limited resources and humble beginnings, Larry and Ritch’s tenacity and profound understanding of the business ignited a fire and unleashed a wave of triumph in its inaugural year. This achievement was a brief glimpse into the future success of the unwavering young company.

In 2009, IAC expanded into a service business. Leveraging his expertise in engineering, Larry Shank took on the role of service technician and continued their commitment to delivering exceptional products and services. With the addition of 3-5 employees IAC apt the manpower to push for larger sales goals and solidified IAC’s reputation as a customer-centric organization.

In 2011, IAC took a significant step by acquiring a 10,000-square-foot facility in Chandler, Arizona. This investment allowed the company to enhance its operations and accommodate its growing customer base.

Building on its success, IAC established its Automation and Solutions business in 2016 and successfully empowered clients to optimize their processes and achieve maximum efficiency.

In 2018, IAC purchased TAVCO sales and service from Steve Taverna. This added several diversified lines to the business and assisted in increasing IAC’s ability to assist customers with a myriad of products and services.

In 2023, IAC continues to represent only the best manufacturers in the business and has grown to a team of 23 dedicated and talented individuals who have achieved record-breaking sales and provide top-notch customer service.

As IAC celebrates its 25th anniversary, it remains a family-operated business run by Ritch and Chera Shank. The legacy continues as Ritch’s youngest son works alongside him, while his eldest son leads as the company’s Solutions Engineer. The lineage marks three generations of pioneering minds and forward-thinking leaders. In commemoration of IAC’s 25th anniversary, IAC is delighted to unveil its new in-house training center. This state-of-the-art Instrument Training Unit, (ITU) is fitted with the instruments they represent and trust. The center reflects IAC’s commitment to continuous improvement and the development of its employees and customers. The training center will provide hands-on training, workshops, and seminars, equipping industry professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their respective fields.

“I am very grateful to our customers, employees, and excellent manufacturing partners for helping IAC achieve so much success. I look forward to continuing to bring the best products, services, solutions and training to our customers to help them accomplish their goals.” – Ritch Shank, Owner

IAC’s 25th-anniversary celebration will feature an open warehouse show unveiling the ITU center, welcoming our industry partners, and celebrating our Arizona and New Mexico customers. Thank you for your continued support and interest in IAC.
